Savannah City Directory - The source for what's going on in Savannah
Monthly Report - February 2008

February was an exciting month at SavannahCityDirectory.com with Valentine's Day and the special events in Savannah associated with that day. The Davenport House provided a lovely location for Valentine's Day ceremonies, and Tybee filled the pier for their annual Tie the Knot at Tybee event. February started with a bang with the 1st Annual Savannah Book Festival, which was a great success. Midmonth, February 12, we celebrated Georgia Day which included a children's parade from Forsyth Park to City Hall. Now it is time to prepare for the big St. Patrick's Day celebration in March and the Bike Races in the Spring. Many of the azaleas are already starting to bloom!

Savannah Azaleas - Colonial Cemetary     SavannahCityDirectory.com now holds an Alexa.com traffic rank of 299,475 which is even better than our January ranking, and significantly better than any other similar local informational website in Savannah. Our excellent Alexa.com ranking indicates that we are attracting both new and return visitors, and that visitors are viewing more pages at the website. Most importantly, our overall monthly visitor numbers (in the thousands) have also been increasing steadily - another sign that the website is continuing to grow in popularity.

We attribute this success to multiple factors, including increased distribution of the monthly newsletter, Savannah Gazette ®, at more locations throughout the Savannah area, increased reciprocal link agreements with high-traffic travel sites, optimization efforts in site design, use of select meta keywords and index mapping, registration with special Google programs, executive listing arrangements with Yahoo, index registration with MSN network, agreements with similar directory sites to provide appropriate links and ads, and ongoing strategic planning efforts for local marketing and networking initiatives - and, most importantly, the full-featured informative all-about-Savannah content.

Additionally, in February we welcomed new members to our freelance writers Group.

Website Content

The SavannahCityDirectory.com website content is divided into ten main categories: Lodging, Dining, Shopping, Tours, Nightlife, Arts, Recreation, Schools, Business, and Tybee. These categories represent the core interests of tourists and Savannah locals who visit the website. Additionally there are sub-areas for Savannah's History, Government Services, and, of course, a Calendar of Upcoming Events. This site design was developed specifically to create an easy-to-navigate user-friendly website.

Savannah Azaleas - Colonial CemetaryLast month, January, with the anticipation of the New Year and personal resolutions, the general focus was on learning and fitness. Between the Annual December Bridge Run, and the February Book Festival, January seemed the perfect month to reflect and work on improving one's personal best.

The core areas of the website were updated with new Articles, Location Reviews, Personal Interviews, Photos, and Videos. Printable Coupons from local businesses were also updated and added as a special value and benefit for visitors and businesses alike.

New Affiliates

In February, new affiliates were added to the site joining existing affiliates such as Walmart, Orbitz, Tupperware, Disney Shopping, Liz Claiborne, Delta, Apple iTunes, and AT&T, just to name a few. We also continued negotiations to increase our number of reciprocal link agreements. We are proud of our partnerships with other local information websites as well as popular national travel sites such as Travel South USA, TravelWebDir, and Trip Advisor.

Upcoming Months

Happy St Patrick's Day Along with more Reviews of Savannah locations, plans for March and April include new pages for the self-employed and other small business owners, a section for local artists and authors to display a sample of their work, and information about the real estate market. Close-ups of Sports Shops will tie in with the Bike Race Across Georgia. We will of course be covering the St.Patrick's Day events with informative articles about the best places to go and things to do.

New contributers, new content, and new affiliates and link partners continue to make the SavannahCityDirectory.com a full-featured website - and a useful travel tool for tourists seeking information about Savannah such as places to visit, places to stay, and what to do while in the city. SavannahCityDirectory.com is also an online hub for Savannah's locals who return to the site regularly seeking information about what's going on in the community.

Please contact us anytime. We welcome all questions, comments, and concerns; and definitely let us know if there is anything we can do for your business or organization. We are now planning Articles, Interviews, and Location Reviews for March and April. If you are interested in advertising online or in the Savannah Gazette ®, we will be happy to schedule a free marketing consultation. Community announcements are always free.
